One of the best ways to start out practicing magic is doing something simple. Even better: something simple that you love to do.
When I first heard the term "knot magic", I thought of burly, tatted up men hanging from ropes on ships tying off lines while singing a sea shanty.
But knot magic can be so much more than that! And you can use it for your craft in some pretty creatively awesome ways.
Knitting and crochet
This is seriously awesome.
I've been knitting since I was in 8th grade. This past year, because I was a bored pregnant lady would wanted to nest without the nesting part, I taught myself to crochet.
I never thought of using using it for magic!
Incredibly simple and fun! Plus, depending on how in depth you want the spell to be, you can account for types of material used, color, number of stitches, etc.

As a seamstress by trade (okay, workstudy), I honestly surprised myself when I thought of using knot magic with sewing.
Lots of people will just simply tie the thread or string into knot and then undo them.
But what about weaving your intention through decorative stitches?
What about cutting up pieces of different colored fabric and stitching them together while visualizing what the item will be used for?
Sounds pretty awesome to me. Not mention powerful; with both sewing and crocheting/knitting, you're putting your own work and time and energy into the creation.
Nothing's more powerful than something you make yourself.
